Brett Hughes & Matt Flinner
June 15 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm
Brett Hughes has been kicking around the Burlington, VT music scene longer than he probably should— but while he’s been at it, he’s played with a pile-up of bands: Chrome Cowboys, Monoprix, Belle Pines, Cider House Boys, viperHouse, Whateverly Brothers, Mike Gordon And Ramble Dove, Whiskey Likkers, Wrecking Ball, The Decentz, Fortune Tellers, All Fall Down, and many more that he can’t remember the names of. He’s been hosting Honky Tonk Tuesday at the Radio Bean for over 8-1/2 years, and he loves being the harmony singer with sweet-singing women in little duos—Me&You (with Marie Claire), Kat Wright, Toni Catlin, Lesley Grant, and Lila Webb.
Grammy-nominated mandolinist Matt Flinner has made a career out of playing bluegrass and American roots music in new ways. Hailed by Downbeat Magazine as “one of the best mandolin players ever,” Flinner has established a reputation as one of the most respected composers and innovators in modern American acoustic music. His projects and collaborations range from bluegrass to jazz to classical to New Acoustic music, all with the common thread of American roots music with a creative edge.
