The New Review is kicking off Jazz Fest 2018 at Skinny Pancake!!
Boston based group The New Review, steeped in a style of old-school funk & soul music, bring a modern originality to their raw and powerful energy. With intuitive arrangements and a powerhouse vocal trio, performances by The New Review erupt in fits of vocal fury and pure-form energy. Endlessly and effortlessly locked in a groove, TNR is grounded by a hard-hitting rhythm section, and topped off by an enthusiastically punchy two-piece horn section. With nods to Sharon Jones, vintage Aretha, and the Philadelphia-era David Bowie, The New Review start a party anywhere they play, horns raised, mic’s and amps blazing. In 2017, NPR selected The New Review to headline their Tiny Desk Submissions Showcase in NYC for their video of “Portrait of a Man”, a single that will be released in the Spring of 2018.
