There’s a Vermont Island out in Western Massachusetts for the next 16 days. ⁠

The Big E, alongside a host of other happenings, is the home of the “Avenue of States” - a row of statehouse-esque buildings, one for each of the New England states - including good ‘ol Vermont, of course. ⁠
⁠
And it’s hard to have an accurate representation of Vermont without a healthy dose of crepes, so you bet your batter you’ll find us inside Vermont’s weathervane topped building all Big E long.⁠

We do our share of fairs in Vermont, but the Big E is a whole ‘nother beast - complete with a giant slide, Billy Idol concerts, TONS of vendors, oh, and did we mention somewhere around 100,000 people a day? That’s a lot. ⁠

While crepes may not be your classic fair food, we love knowing someone can pop into “Vermont” and visit the Skinny P at the same place they can ride a camel, buy a bedazzled sweatshirt, or eat a deep-fried oreo, turkey leg, and a giant slushie all at the same time. ⁠

If you can’t make it to VT in September, but you can make it to Springfield, Ma - we’ll catch you at the fair.

Located at UVM's central campus in the Living/Learning Center, we're stocked up with fresh bagels, sweet & savory crepes, sandwiches, salads, baked goods, espresso, coffee, and beverages like (@guayaki 🙌). ⁠⁠

Our hours are M-TH 7:30am-10pm, Fri 7:30am-11pm, Sat 9am-11pm, and Sun 9am-10pm. We are currently operating as to-go only and we do accept meal plan points. 🥞📚🤓 ⁠⁠

Thank you Quechee Ballon fest!⁠⁠

The weather was perfect and the hot air balloon hunters were out in droves. So many folks flocked to wee Quechee village on Saturday that cell towers jammed, ATM machines and WiFi signals went down, and we managed to sell more crepes in a single day as we usually do in the whole weekend.⁠⁠

We love this festival. It’s run by great people and hosted by a great town. We talked to so many people over the weekend who were attending for the first time - that is awesome.⁠⁠

Thank you to all the balloonists, balloon lovers, crepe lovers, and of course the Hartford Area Chamber of Commerce for making it all happen.⁠⁠

This is Kara- Kara has been with us for 4 summers now seasonally and has just accepted a full-time role as our Experiential Marketing Manager! 🙌⁠⁠

Kara's earliest memory of The Skinny P is from Frendly Gathering, 5 or 6 years ago. She was the lucky soul on the receiving end of a free crepe sample from SP, and as she was receiving her free gift, she saw a squad of SP employees sitting atop Sueno (the blue bus pictured in image #2).⁠⁠
⁠⁠
Being a "diehard ski bum", Kara was constantly searching for seasonal summer jobs to complement her seasonal winter resort jobs. Kara found an open position on the Festival Team, the same team that she noticed sitting atop the blue bus just a year or so prior, and so she applied. The plan was for The Skinny to be a one-off summer job (as she promised herself she would never work in a kitchen again😇), but now 4 years later, she's still here!⁠⁠

Kara's roles have definitely shifted over the years ranging from working on the Festie crew to managing our Church St. cart, distributing ShiftMeals free meals, managing all events and mobile operations, and now joining our Marketing team with so much in between.⁠⁠
⁠⁠
Brittany, our Special Operations Manager, describes Kara as "my right hand, and the Jackie of all trades. She was an absolutely rock star during the early stages of ShiftMeals, delivering and distributing meals, and I really have no idea where the mobile operations department would be without her! She embodies everything that the Pancake looks for from teamwork to a positive attitude to creative problem-solving skills."⁠⁠
⁠⁠
Kara goes on to say that "Skinny P has taught me so much over the past few years (how to be an effective leader, how to remain calm and handle emergencies, how to balance work and life when they seem to constantly overlap, how to hitch a trailer, how to jumpstart a food truck😅, the list goes on). It's the team and management here that keeps me around."⁠⁠

We are so thankful to have Kara as part of our team and look forward to seeing how she takes her new Experiential Marketing role to the next level, as she's done so many times before with other promotions. 🧡
