Restaurant Opening Manager

The Skinny Pancake is looking for an experienced food service professional to join the organization in our next phase of growth as a Restaurant Opening Manager. The ideal candidate will have experience working across departments, managing multi-faceted projects and successfully developing talent.

The Restaurant Opening Manager’s core responsibilities will be to:

  • Promote, work, and act in a manner consistent with the company mission: The Skinny Pancake is on a mission to change the world by building a safer, healthier, and more delicious food venue while creating everyday enjoyment that is fun and affordable.
  • Oversee the process of each Skinny Pancake restaurant opening, beginning with planning before opening, onsite management, project management, and post-opening support
  • Create, update and review all opening tools used for each opening
  • Ensure all openings are adhering to systems and processes in place
  • Coordinate closely with operations, development team and construction project managers to ensure opening schedule stays on track
  • Bring enthusiasm, organization and structure to the mayhem of restaurant openings
  • Be knowledgeable in health department requirements
  • Be a leader in creating a culture of workplace safety
  • Oversee acquisitions of necessary restaurant equipment
  • Act as the primary train-the-trainer before, during and after opening
  • Lead in the setting up and stocking of the restaurant
  • Be the primary point of contact on technology installation and training
  • Set up all accounts with trades, utilities, and distributors
  • Support General Manager in the hiring process to filter resumes and be a second opinion on hires
  • Work with the branding team to ensure deliverables of branded items are on timeline. I
  • Conduct necessary meetings with general managers, leadership team and other stakeholders
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures outlined in the employee handbook


Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in a restaurant or quick-service food operations, ideally in a management capacity
  • In-depth understanding of all restaurant operations (BOH, FOH, management)
  • Experience in opening restaurants a plus
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills
  • Strong communicator, able to clearly articulate what needs to be done
  • Problem solver, quick to pivot when things don’t go as planned
  • Aptitude with modern technology including Microsoft Suite, Google Suite and online organizational tools
  • Project management software experience a plus (Asana, Smartsheets, Airtable etc.)
  • Willingness to jump in and do any job
  • Must be able to remain calm, cool, and collected in high stress, pressured environments
  • Able to understand, read and speak using English
  • Able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 9 hours)
  • Able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 30 pounds
  • Stamina and availability to work 50 hours per week
