JANUARY

For the month of January we’ve chosen Protect Our Winters

Protect Our Winters (POW) helps passionate outdoor enthusiasts protect the places and lifestyles we love from climate change. POW is a community of athletes, scientists, creatives and business leaders advancing non-partisan policies that work to preserve our environment today and for future generations.

Playing outside and connecting with the earth is at the heart of why Skinny Pancake is on a mission to change the world by building a safer, healthier, and more delicious food shed while creating everyday enjoyment that is fun and affordable. We love the earth in all its seasons and are grateful to POW for their work to protect our communities from climate change.

APRIL

For the month of April we’ve chosen Local Motion as the benecifiary for all locations asides from Stowe, who will be donating 1% of all Sugarshack sales to the Stowe Trails Partnership. Consider it Bike Month at the ‘Cake!

Local Motion was founded in 1999 with a singular (and improbable) goal: to get people on bikes across the mouth of the Winooski River, where the Burlington Bike Path then came to an end.

Since then, they have grown to become Vermont’s statewide advocate for active transportation, vibrant communities, and safe streets. THEIR mission is simple: Making it safe, accessible, and fun for
everyone to bike, walk, and roll in Vermont.

We know there is no one solution that will work for every community. That’s why their work ranges from on-the-ground advocacy and community organizing and project-specific technical assistance to workshops and classes for all ages and bike-friendly resources for businesses and communities.

Stowe Trails Partnership’s mission is to partner with the community in building and maintaining a world class trail network IN STOWE, VERMONT.

Mountain biking has always been, and will continue to be, at the core of the Stowe Trails Partnership. Per the terms of the signed agreements they have in place with the Town of Stowe and Stowe Land Trust, STP’S charge is to “develop and maintain multi-use trails suitable for mountain biking.” It’s THEIR hope that the multi-use element of Stowe’s trails encourages participation and ownership from all trail users, not just mountain bikers.

MAY

CRAG-VT is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to preserving access and conservation of Vermont’s climbing resources. They serve the climbing community of Vermont through a variety of mechanisms:

Preserve and aid in the protection of climbing opportunities in Vermont by building and maintaining long-term relationships with landowners. Current and future access will be fostered through outright purchases of property, obtaining conservation easements, or securing landowner agreements.
Serve climbers, land managers, landowners, and the general public as an educational resource for responsible climbing, access status, historical information, species and habitat protection, and legal matters.
Promote responsible stewardship and reduce environmental impacts by conducting trail maintenance, volunteer clean-ups, and producing educational materials.

ADK (Adirondack Mountain Club) works to protect New York State wild lands and waters by promoting responsible outdoor recreation and building a statewide constituency of land stewardship advocates.

Based out of the Adirondack Park in New York State, ADK is a leader in providing outdoor education, promoting responsible recreation, and organizing stewardship experiences. Since 1922, the organization has worked to increase access to the backcountry by building trails, conserving natural areas and developing a stewardship community that supports the ethical and safe use of New York’s outdoor spaces. A member, donor, and volunteer-supported organization, ADK reaches across New York through its 27 chapters to inspire people to enjoy the outdoors ethically.
